That includes both mainstream popular trends and so-called nonconformist fads. Popularity trends speak for themselves but by nonconformist fads I'm mean what happened to the poor Tim Burton films and similar sad rapes of what started as decent or cool before they were sucked into trends. A lot of what's supposedly nonconformist has become hypocritical because these people conform to their own series of trends.

This also refers to people who try to mold themselves to fit labels from scene to athlete to goth because I guess they don't know how to have a style and identity of their own? Whatever. The best way to be original is to like whatever the hell you want without confining yourself to a certain style or brand of trends.

Even people I think are awesome seem to have this issue with labeling themselves and walking a narrow path when it comes to identity. I'm not afraid to like something because I don't give a shit whether or not people have turned it into a fad. In the same sense, I don't hesitate to like something that's mainstream or 'nonconformist' because whether or not other people like it has nothing to do with my own preferences.
But of course, I couldn't fit all of that on the stamp.
